Default how bad do you think it is?

So I am making the return trip down a dirt road at night @35-40 mph and hit a small rise I don't remember...Car bottoms out (hard) and when the cursing stops I hear a squeal/high pitch groan. This awful noise is amplified under breaking and turning. It is present at a stop and in park. It is almost gone when the wheel is turned to a certain point. With the hood open it sounds as though it is coming from the fan/fans. Under power the sound seems to go away. I don't know if that is from the car raising slightly under accelaration.

How well screwed am I? Thanks!

Advise: go to a specialist. It's impossible to tell from here...

Have you raised the car to look at the damage underneath?

Check the brackets that hold the belly pan, they might be bent & hitting the serpentine belt

Default Winner winner chicken dinner!

thanks for the responses! Quite an emotional swing in a 14 hour period. One of the worst and one of the best days all in one! Brackets were bent. One almost straight up and rubbing on the belt. No damage to belt - just some glazing right in the center. Straightened the brackets and went back to the scene of the crime and found the passenger side lower grill that popped out and I am back I biz. Serious thanks to everyone for their help on this and others. I hope to get to the point that I can contribute half of what I get from these boards

Glad to hear it was something simple and cheap. You were smart to go back and find that grill, they're spendy

Default About that grill...

you may want to zip tie those or screw them in to prevent them from falling off again.

Default Now when I walk into the dealership, I'm already walking backwards and grabbing my ankles ;-)

They quoted me OVER $500 Canadian for the three lower grilles.

2nd. You may have to drill a hole or two.
