I guess that they have a shortage of trees in Germany!
Got a call from the dealer saying that this piece of wood trim is on backorder! They said that it could be a day or a week or.....! I know its only cosmetic and probably AoA only stocks the parts that would be needed on a regular basis. Ill pick it up tomorrow and thats a good thing. The dealer also said that they would pick up the car and install the piece once it arrives.

Re: I guess that have a shortage of trees in Germany!
Hi everyone
I don't think it's German.
Two or three years ago I visited a factory in Coventry, England where they were making the wood panels for Audi. It was amazing, the wood veneer is really thin, it is 'steamed' so it is flexible and then glued onto an aluminium casting. It is bleached fully white, so that the wood colour goes completely and you can just see the grain, then it is sprayed with a stain dried and then sprayed with a UV curable laquer. That is how they can guarantee the wood is the same colour every time.
Just though you might like to know that they are made in England, but I don't know where the wood comes from?
My company make the UV curing equipment. (Jaguar do the same process for some parts of the car, except they don't bleach it.)
Greetings from wet England, my new to me 1997 S8 is still great!!!!

Shortage of everything in Germany it seems
Gee Greenie, they also seem to have a shortage of transmissions don't they? At least you're not driving a 2000 A6 like Saralee.
I recall when AoA announced a defect in the ignition coils for my TTQ. Sent me a form letter saying, "If it ain't actually broke yet, we won't fix it." Sounded pretty odd, knowing you have a part that will likely fail in service, possibly causing great inconvenience on a road trip etc., or even a drive into a "rough" neighborhood, but refusing to replace it until it actually dies.
I hear the "Greenie" party is real big in the 4th Reich, maybe they won't let Audi cut down those trees.

Actually ming, Oyster Gray has caught my eye!
While I am looking forward to getting "back in the saddle again" this is becoming a pain travelling back and forth with rentals. I may just call them and say keep the car until it is finished. The service manager said to me "After all, its just cosmetic". I thought that this was an inappropriate thing to say. After all???
