Intermittent cat codes: Has anyone dealt with cat replacement under warranty?
I get very occasional intermittent cat failure codes at 75K. I'm assuming this is par for the course, no big deal, but: Has anyone had their cats replaced? Anyone know how big a hassle AOA makes it under the mandatory 80K warranty? Anyone know of a source for replacements other than dealer?

That's unusual. Does it complain about both sides?
If so, that would be even more unexpected, unless they'd been overheated by running a long time with a too-rich mixture or contaminated by inappropriate gas.
You should probably do whatever it takes to qualify to have it fixed under warranty, such as failing an emissions test because the check engine light is on etc.
Not knowing how it decides to complain about the catalysts, I wonder if anything else, like an unusual kind of oxygen sensor problem, could cause the code.

Can you describe codes you were getting, whether dealer was pulling them or indy shop, etc?
Were they intermittent failure codes? How often? Please describe process that led to replacement.
Work on my car is done by an indy shop. He keeps records of codes. I'm just wondering whether AOA is going to try to stiff me because the codes are intermittent or the shop is not a dealer.

"You should probably do whatever it takes to qualify to have it fixed under warranty" -- yes, but...
...exactly what is that? Who has been through that procedure? What do they accept as valid proof of need to replace, and what do they reject as unacceptable evidence of failure? For instance, do they demand that the code data come from a dealer, or do they insist upon catastrophic (as opposed to intermittent) failure?

I dont know about Audi but if it cant pass emmissions....
like the CEL is on or something then they will replace. Its fed. regulations or something. Mercedes did it for me. The cats were covered for a long, long time on the benz, and my jeeps
