I've transgressed.... I cut my rotors
Well, after 2 years, 5 sets of rotors, 3 different brands of pads and the same silly warping, and continuous brake warning light, I decided to take matters into my own hands.
The current front rotors, which were only on the car for about 6 months, were terribly warped as usual. I just got another pair of them (zimmerman) with a new set of mintex redlines. But the mintex dummies sent me 3 pairs of inner pads and 1 pair of outer pads for the 4 pad caliper, so I have to wait for them to rectify this.
So I decide to leave the nasty EBC greens on the car, and take the 6 month old warped and cupped zimmermans that are on the car now and have them cut on a local brake lathe. Well, this is against Audi religion, as well as all common sense, but as I replace rotors every six months or every 3000 miles, as they warp like crazy, I figured what the heck....
So now, the brakes actually work, the car actually stops, and there is no chassis destroying suddering. Fascinating!!!
I have lots of rotors piled up here, and now it looks like they all have a second lease on life.
The brake lathe was a 2003 model year, very accurate, and the cut was superb. But the rotors were out .005, and this caused car to nearly explode when the brakes heated up.
We'll see how long this lasts.
By the way, does anyone know the codes in VAG COM for shutting off the annoying brake wear warning light. I tried setting it to 01283, but it still comes on.....

Ross Tech says you can shut it off
I'm working with it right now. THere is a procedure in the software coding function that disables the whole function of the worn pad sensor. The procedure is well known for A4 and A6, but sort of unclear with the A8.
The "preamble" format in the software code seems to be the same, but the calculated values seem to be different on the A8, so I am playing around with it.
See the link, it is on the page where "17-Instruments" is.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/audiB5.html">http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/audiB5.html</a</li></ul>

Because the brake wear indicator was an option on the A4/A6, ...
You can tell the ECU that it's not there and turn off the idiot light. Because the brake wear indicator "feature" is standard on all A8's, we don't have this choice. See the replies to my <A HREF="https://forums.audiworld.com/vag/msgs/4066.phtml">VAG-COM Forum Post</a>.
BTW: Mine's still on :-(

Yeah.... you're right... drag
The light has a mind of its own.
It turns out that I coded it so now it thinks if has a 90 litre gas tank. Guess I better fix it before I ran out of gas
