Default Just took my A8 to the dealer for a timing belt change!!!??

They quoted only £85.00 more then a local VW audi garage(£405.00), so I thought it would be better to go to the dealer.... it took them 8 hours to change he belt, then 10 ft from the garage my 3.7 lost power, ( flat as a fart) , after a 1 hour wait, they told me the cam sensor was not working..they have given me a hire car till it is fixed, but it will be another three days..... is the cam sensor something they will have touched???????

I'm glad to say that I bought my '00 4.2 just after its 80,000 mile service and checked that it had had its belt change. It had been done, and at a price of over £600. I feel for you though, you would think at £80+ per hour the technicians (as I believe they are called these days)should perform a faultless proffesional job...Mmmmm annoying isn't it.

Hi - Didn't fancy getting your hands dirty then.....They probably did disturb the wiring for the cam sensor whilst changing the belt - not that they will admit to it of course.....:-(

Luckily mine had a belt at 80k (just coming up to 120 now) but it does look like a bit of a PITA to do.....If I still have the car then I won't be taking it to a dealer to do the job!!

Default It shouldn't be that bad to repair

It's either the cam sensor under the cover or it's the actual wiring connector that wasn't completely plugged in and it came undone.

Either way, should be an easy fix....good luck!
