Default Large EVAP Leak

I have been working on a large EVAP leak CEL problem for a few months now. I think I had more than one leak. Anyway, now I only get the error code when the tank is low on gas. I have heard this is probably the sending unit gasket, I was wondering if anyone can confirm this.

The Bentley procedure for leak testing does not work too well.

Thanks

Default If you're pretty sure it's not the gas cap, I'd replace the sending unit gasket, if you haven't

already. Directions are at Audipages.

Default Re: Large EVAP Leak

I had similar problem on my 99 A8. I would definately replace the sending unit gasket and then test the leak detection pump (LDP) using ross-tech Hexcom ( Grp 32 or 33 I will look it up). If it detects a leak, clamp the hose to evap purge valve and rerun the LDP test. If the pressure holds and output of test is "evap OK"
then purge valve(n-90 frequency valve) is leaking and will need replacing ($100). You may try cleaning it with carb cleaner since problem is build up of soot inside it. I can email detailed instructions if you require them
