Default Leather Seat Wear 1999 A8 - United States

I know the free maintenance period includes a repair or refresh of the Leather Seats in year 2 & 3 ( as described in the MA Manual ). What exactly does Audi do to them? Send to an outside upholsterer to restore or does Audi dealer just use some sort of cream / oil to help soften the "cracks". Does the free MA period included replacing a Seat if it's really bad?

Default Should be leather conditioner. Never seen seat wear really bad unless abused.

Usually just scrapes of pens and other stuff in pockets. Slight cracking sometimes after a few years, most often just creases. Leather should be cleaned and conditioned every 6 months for optimum life.

Audi leather uses organic dyes. No metallic salts ( better for environment - less window film ) and no surface laquer ( less likely to crack long term if kept conditioned - more comfortable - less slippery ).

You need to view it more as nice pair of shoes you must maintain, but will last 20 years if you do so.

Default April answered your question but if your looking for a product recommendation ...

I use Lexol on my car and home furniture. I try to do the car seats every 4 or 6 months. On my A6 it takes about 20 minutes. If you do it yourself I'd reccomend doing it at night. You need about an hour or so for the Lexol to soak in. You can find more advice on leather maintenance at Car Care Online.

Search the forums to retreive information on what other people like to use. The A6 guys talk about this occasionally.

Whatever you do, don't use ANY kind of Armor All product. It will make your leather look like vinyl.
