Default Looking to buy A8L

Me and my husband are looking to buy a used A8L. From looking at this forum, we are probably looking at an '01 (prefer the '00+ interior but do not want the trans problems of the '00). These cars seem like an excellent deal used, and we have always liked Audi's.

What are some of the things we need to be on the lookout for??? Also, as for mileage vs price (we are doing this to lower our car payments / outlay)??? Being able to do work on the car is not an issue, as we had an auto repair business for 9-years (rarely saw an Audi except for one '87 5000CS Quattro that we acquired due to the owner not picking it up from being towed. It had 330K miles on it). Common electrical issues on these cars??? (as electrical is one of the most annoying).

We do believe in going into something like this fully informed.

Thank you in advance, for any help. )

Thank you in advance.

Default me too, questions:

Just drove a 2001 A8L today for the first time after 6 yrs with an S4. Can you get up-to-date Nav discs? Do the 16" or 17" wheels ride smoother or quieter than the 18" ones I drove? Does the A8L ride noticably smoother and quiter than the A8, or are they about the same? Very nice car, seems like a good value.

We will go drive one tomorrow. It isn't a color combo I want, but it will give me a good idea about the car. I prefer sportier over smoother.

Yes, you can get updated maps from Navteq. Noise level between the regular base and the L should be the same. I would think the ride in stock form would be as well.
