Default Memory seats button won't stay depressed...

The memory seats button on my 1997 A8 pre facelift won't stay down. Could a fuse have blown? And if so where is the fuse box to remedy this? (I haven't got the faintest where to look)

Mine are momenatry contacts. I don't think they're supposed to stay down.

To clarify, the master switch, red, ON / OFF button should stay down once pressed. The 1-4 memory buttons need to be held down firmly until the seats, mirrors, steering stops moving. To set, find position, hold set and hold any of buttons 1-4 until the relay clicks.

Default It's the red button that's the problem

If i hold it down all the functions work. It won't stay in, so it's probably something to live with

Default Ahh - that sounds like a mechanical problem in the latching button...

Pretty sure that a fuse has nothing to do with it.

This sounds a like a pretty cheap used part. Especially if other Audis or VWs use the same button array.

Try spraying a little electronics contact cleaner in or even some WD-40. It could be gunked up due to a spill.

Default I agree...

not a fuse problem, now that I have checked all the functions by holding the button in. Any idea how to dismantle the door pocket etc. to get at the problem?

Default Audipages are your friend...

But first see if you can gently pop/pry the switch array out from the outside. May save a lot of trouble.

http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articles/Body/doortrim.html</a

Default Appreciate the help...

I couldn't see where to remove the switch array and removing the whole door panel seems too much bother. It might have to become one of those little quirks that I live with. I was oping just the door bin could be removed, exposing the switches but never mind.
