Default MMI Freezing/Problems

I got a '04 A8 3 months ago. So far its been in the shop 34days and counting. The MMI just reboots out of no where. Also the other day my radio frooze and i couldn't turn it off even when i turned the car off. The dealer and audi of america are stunned and have no idea what they are doing. To this date, they have not fixed the problem nor offered a solution. Anyone else with simular problems?

Default Don't know...but I sure would like to go to training on the D3

Maybe they could fly me around the country to fix the problem childen!

I can only dream and read dreaded stories about it on the internet....

Default First of all, congratulations on having your car

on the road two months out of three!! A number of us have had "difficulties" with this car and TRUST me, AoA and your dealer are NOT stunned by this! They have been dealing with this for almost a year now. There are twenty nine ECMs controlling many of the cars functions and UAUALLY the replacement of these units solves the particular problem. I cannot believe that your dealer and/or AoA have offered no solution. If thats really their tact, hand them your keys and tell them "heres MY solution"! If it gets ugly, but I doubt that it will, send me an e-mail and I would be happy to assist you.

Default Do you really think the little computers in the car are failing???

I don't....can't believe they have been building this car for 15 or more months and the electronics are failing.....electronics don't usually fail after that period of time, especially automotive electronics.

I would have to say it's software related or some other interface....

What do you think?

Default Did they ever replace the same one twice? Or do you have the same problem repeated?

Or is it a different problem every time and it was fixed each time?

Hi Paul! As far as I know, each ECM was replaced once.

Default 7 Series (E65/E66) has been out for 28 months and is in much worse shape than the A8L after 15

Of course, the E65/E66 7 Series was in much worse shape after 15 months than it is after 27 months. So after 27 months, the A8L will most likely be in significantly better shape than it is in now.
