Multifunction Indicator Light
My car is a 1999, with 70500 miles. Today, during lunch, the
Multifunction Indicator Light went on and it has stayed on.
It now lights up as soon as I start the car. The owners manual
is no help.
I searched the archives but the only thing I came up with were
some possible fuel line problems.
Any idea of the cause? Anyone on Long Island, NY with the
VAG tool?
Thanks,
Barry
The dealer told me that about 90% of the time this is the reason. If this is your case, it will take about a day or so for the computer to readjust to the correct fuel, pressure, and air intake readings.
The MIL, in this case, detected incorrrect fuel and vacuum pressure (because of the loose cap).
Hopefully, for you, this is all it is.
Good luck!
I do mean the malfunction light, the one that
is orange, and looks like a picture of an engine.
I didn't fuel up recently, but I do need gas today.
I'll check the cap and drive for a day or so.
Will the light go off if the error condition clears,
or does it have to be reset?
Barry
