Default Nope, this is a post-facelift unit. It might fit, but it is not the same thing

Seems like there is a double DIN old style centre console available. Interesting!

Default Check out the component location comparison

I was driving my car last night and I noticed that there is no way a double DIN unit could fit in. Very interesting how low the CC unit is:

There is a bevel below the CC system on the single DIN faceplates, the CC system on the double DIN faceplate must sit in there.

Audi had to do a very small production run of these things, man is that expensive!

Default Kjell- would you email me the European ETKA page that has this steering wheel identified please?

Also, are the buttons for shifting or radio controls? Thanks (again) for getting me Euro specific information that I otherwise would have a very difficult time getting!

Default we need your help on steering wheel upgrade

Hello Kjell:

Since your A8 is a pre facelift and came with the 3-spoke steering wheel, we are thinking there is a big chance we can upgrade our steering wheel to the one you have, but we need to see some pics of the steering wheel with airbag removed and pics of the cancelling ring and the connections, so we can check them with our steering wheel connections to see if we can do this upgrade.

thanks.

Default No way I'm removing that thing! Sorry, I'm no mechanic.

BTW. I don't have tip buttons on the steering wheel, but later models like the one on ebay had. I'm considering an upgrade to that one. That could be the time to take some pictures of it, or just send the old one over to you.

Default Pictures of '97 and '98 steering wheels

Here are how the steering wheels look in ETKA for Euro '97 and '98 model. None of the sports wheels has tiptronic buttons as you can see. Probably came in '99, my ETKA version doesn't have more recent models than '98.

Default This is not the correct slide to determine that

There is another one that shows the canceling ring, this one does not show the part numbers. I remember finding the canceling ring part number was hard, I believe it was in the electrical wiring section.
