Like audinutt said, I would definitely get a new engine coolant temp sensor also (the one on the engine, rear of bank #1 head)...can't get the correct fuel mixture with a bad one.

Might even find it at Advance Auto parts...amazing how many name brand parts they can get quick (end of the day sometimes) and cheap.


If this and the ignition module fix the misfire, I'd then wait to see if 02 codes return...maybe a result of other problems. But any car at or near 100K miles can benefit from new front O2 sensors.

Ignition module worked! I was able to pick up the pair for $27.70 and they look like they were just replaced! On the ride home i had my wife double check them with the multimeter and they tested the same on all pegs. mine was all over the board! I guess we will see how long they last.

I'm going to hold off for now on the temp sensor. It has a little ways to go until it hits the road. But I will have it done before it becomes my daily driver.

A little side note... I shed a little tear when I saw the donor car at the junk yard. It was a single owner 1998 A8 with 70k that was traded in on cash for clunkers. The guy at the yard that helped my said it was in perfect shape. The tranny had a small issue but he said a tranny took it and put about a $40 part in and it was fine. The car now is almost totally stripped. I think it still had all the glass but someone trashed the interior and trunk and the front clip is gone. Pretty sad. The yard guy said they got $4500 tops for the car.
