New torque specs
Yeah I don't know what it is but the old german ver had like 400 lb of torque and went 5.4 0-60.
I thought they only tweeked the american ver down to 6.2, but you guys are saying the german ver is the same. I hope not.

1998 had 410 lbs of torque
Yeah I have loved the S8 for more than a couple years, When I first looked at it, the specs were
340 bhp and 410 lbs of torque.I found this site with these stats for a 98<ul><li><a href="http://www.pebblenet.com/conceptcarz/carChosen.asp?car_id=1221">1998 S8</a></li></ul>

Re: Unit confusion?
Guess this is a unit confusion. The torque number 410 is correct for the 32V version of the S8 (1997-1998), but the unit is Nm, Newton meters. This is the unit used for torque in europe. The number equals 302,4 lb-ft.
For the 1999 version and onwards the number is 430 Nm, which equals 317 lb-ft.
The A8 4,2 32V (1994-1998) had 400 Nm, or 295 lb-ft, and the new version has 410 Nm, same as the old S8. So the old S8 had to either rev higher or have the max. torque at higher revs, or a combination of both.
I used the conversion machine at:
http://www.processassociates.com/process/convert/cf_tor.htm
to convert the numbers from Nm to lb-ft, but I can't guarantee that it converts it correctly.
