off topic - 500E
I need your opinion. I meant to ask my Mercedes friends but they have one sided view on this. I have an opportunity to purchase a 1992 500E w/ 60k and it is a show vehicle (9 of 10)with winning trophies. Do you think this car will be a collector in the future?

you will get a kick out of this...
two cars at my fathers garage, project cars at the shop, RV at the storage, trailer at my buddy's and two cars in the garage and one in the driveway. I am selling my 91 560SEC w/58k miles (consigned). I need to design a new house w/ 10 car garage if I can find a land here in Calif....

it will probably hold value well (as it has), but not sure about being a "collector".
even the famous, big daddy 6.9 sedan still depreciates a tiny bit.
btw, i love the 500e/e500. almost went that route vs. the A8, but opted for quattro given the ny seasons

The 500E has a cult following because it was built in the Porsche factory and has various Porsche designed/modified components(including the engine). If you can buy it for a fair price and not pay too much premium for the trophies, you should be ok. My opinion is that its potential as a collector car is limited.
BUT, it's a hell of a lot of fun to drive!
