hello, I don't frequent the A8 side of things to often (however, I am an allroader!), so I have a Q. before you jump on me...I searched archives and search threads, but it was to no avail.
A good friend of mine has finally made the leap to Audi. Purchased a 97 A8, totally stock. HE wants to remove the stock wheels (225x60xR16) and put 235x45xR18 on with an offset of ET45mm. What is the stock offset on the 97? I kept telling him he may need spacers and longer lugs. So, does he need spacers? What does the A8 brain trust think?

What's the rim width on the new wheels?
That's a pretty critical piece of info.
8x17 ET45 is a pretty standard size for A8s; it's the size of the "standard option" polished 5-spoke on the pre-facelift A8s. ET48 on an 8" rim should work just fine.
Also, that tire size is off. I think he wants 245/45-18.<ul><li><a href="http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/tiresizeoptions.html">See Randy's tire table for why.</a></li></ul>
