outside temperature sensor -1997 D2
My temp sensor went missing after a power steering pump replacement. I located a spare from wrecker and know the sensor sits in front of the transmission oil cooler. My problem is I can't find a connection point! The wire at the end of the probe has a connector but there seems nothing in the area to connect it to! Any pictures would be gratefully received.

Hi !
When i bought my A8 D2 1996 it had also missing temp sensor. I was able to find connection point under the driver side headlamp. I had my front bumber removed, so finding was easier, but it can be found even without removing it.
One other thing about the sensor. The original replacement part is in my understandig part nr 8D0 820 535 , which has long wire that attaches to the connector under the headlamp. When i replaced the sensor i used part 8Z0 820 535, which is the same sensor without the wire ( =15 usd cheaper ) and with some filing (the connector is a bit different) of the plastic sensor i was able to connect the sensor to the connector under the headlamp directly (+ 1 zip tie). So now the sensor is under the lamp, not front of the cooler as supposed, but i havent found any major missreadings on the temperature. Of course the original way is better, but that sensor model was the only available at the time...
