Question about running the output tests using VAG-COM...

OK, so I ran the output tests to check my purge valve. It sounds like it's clicking, so it may be working, but I have a new one on the way just in case (FYI, they're cheeep at autohausaz- only ~$62 shipped!). Anyway, my question is, is it normal to have a "hissing" sound like an air hose (or an unshut valve) with a hole in it while all the output tests are going on? The sound predominantly sounds like it's coming from the circled area above, though I'm having the darndest time locating exactly where. It could be coming from the metal valve-like thing the red arrow is pointing to. So anyway, is this normal, and what is that metal valve? This is for an '02 S8, btw. Thanks...

No hissing should be heard -try soapy water with a paint brush and see
if there is a leak-the engine off and ignition on is the setup for output tests
is the engine hot?
What happened with injector #4??

The engine was not hot when I performed the tests. If there should be no hissing, then I've got
some exploring to do. As for injector #4, well, when I went to test it, it clicked once and that's it, while all the other injectors clicked like 5 times before stopping. Does that mean there's something wrong with it?

That's your fuel pressure regulator, just so's ya know.
You could have a vacuum leak. Look at that black rubber elbow with the orange plastic tube coming out of it (just above the arrow in the picture).
