Default From R to D then suddenly limp mode...

Hello all knowing Audi fanatics

I am having trouble with my automatic transmission. Google has not helped.

When I park the car and I have to reverse from a parking space and then put it in to Drive it sounds funny and goes into Limp mode.

I always reverse to the parking spot when parking due to this problem.

I had the filter and transmission fluid changed but it did not solve the problem.

What I think is going on and that is what I hope is my problem is that there is a sensor that is not working correctly.

Could you guys please help me solve this problem and/or come with some ideas ?!

Best regards.

You need to pull some codes from the trans. Please post them.

How does this help? Maybe I don't understand your problem. Can you ever get D to work?

Hello 4Driver4

The Code I got was P0703

After some googling

https://www.obd-codes.com/p0703

Symptoms of a P0703 code may include:
Engine stalling when the vehicle rolls to a stop
TCC lockup may be disabled
Diminished fuel efficiency
Decreased engine performance (especially at highway speeds)
Erratic transmission shift patterns No stop lamp illumination

Potential causes for this code to set are:
Defective brake switch
Misadjusted brake switch
Shorted or open wiring and/or connectors in the brake switch circuit designated as B
Blown fuse or burnt fusible link
Faulty PCM or PCM programming error

That looks like an engine code (ECU). Anything in the trans control unit (TCU)?

On the FL there are two circuits in that switch and I found one can be intermittent even if the switch is working well for the brake lights.

I'm the first person to say that codes are clues and not a shopping list, but in this case I'd replace the brake light switch.
Gotta start somewhere, and that's cheap.

You can adjust the switch you have, they often wear down a bit so they need to be adjusted again so both circuits operate as expected. The other circuit can be checked in VCDS.
