Rear fog light / alarm indicator light stays on for 2 seconds at start up

Rear fog light / alarm indicator light stays on for 2 seconds at start up
I don't seem to remember this light coming on at start up before.
1997 A8 4.2q 160k. I unlock the car start it up and the alarm indicator light stays on for about 2 seconds. Everything is fine but does anybody have some insight as to what this means.
