Default S8 Wheel Size

I have recently purchased an 02 S8. Unfortunately it has a shake in the steering wheel at highway speeds. My mechanic has suggested it was the aftermarket wheels and suggested getting OEM wheels. I'm curious if wheels from an A8 will fit, or any other Audi.

Do I need to find wheels that have 18x8 ET45, or is there room to use something slightly different like 18x8.5? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Tire balancing will negate effects from weight, are you using the correct studs for the wheels?

Correct studs?? I'm not sure - are you referring to the lug bolts?

The wheels won't stay balanced, the steering wheel (and the rest of the car) shake at 50+ mph. They are cheap wheels and they do have the centering rings. After replacing the control arms and bushings, my mechanic suggested OEM wheels. S8 wheels aren't the easiest to come by, so I was hoping there were other Audi wheels that would fit the S8.

As a matter of fact, I went through something very similar with my '01 that has aftermarket wheels. The previous owner picked them up off ebay and I have a feeling he baught them damaged. When I went to put new tires on them, the shop showed me where the wheels had been bent. I was able to fix them for about $100 per wheel which I should hope is cheaper than buying oem wheels.

Good luck!

Does anyone know if the B7 S4 wheels will fit my S8? Both have 5X112, 18X8, ET 45, but in the S4 forums some post say they are not the same wheels?

You can fit 8.5" wheels with no issue.

Check out Hartmann Wheels in the Northwest. They have first quality replacement wheels which are much more reasonable versus the Audi factory wheels.
