S8 Winter Wheels

S8 Winter Wheels
I am looking for some winter wheels for my '01 S8 and was thinking the nine spoke RS4 wheels might look nice. The only problem is that all of the 18" RS4 wheels on eBay are painted a hyper silver color and my car is light silver. Any thought on how the hyper silver wheel color would look on a light silver S8?

They should look okay, but before you go ahead...
Just take a look at this post. Just some food for thought before you take the plunge.
Granted I do understand they are just winter wheels, I suppose it's not *as* critical they look top-top notch.
I would be a little concerned about the structural rigidity/integrity of the wheel. That's what the post below discusses.
I mean, just a thought, but if there's also free shipping, those are like $400-500 wheels. Now I do understand that it denotes the contruction materials, but don't know off-hand if that "type" of aluminum is ideal for use in a wheel supporting a ~4000LB car.

POST!

Another great option is to get a set of used 17" 5 spoke OEM D2 wheels...
that's what I did for the wifey's S8 and they work great - only 17" wheels I found to clear the Brembo front brakes on the S8.
I paid $300 for a set of 4 and they were take-off's so they appear brand new. The added benefit is you can go w/ a narrower, higher profile tire for improved traction and you can also find studdable tires (that's what we did) if your conditions warrant high country snow conditions as ours do.
Good luck w/ your search, and be wary of inexpensive after market wheels. They're no bargain if they have to be replace every other year.

I will likely have available a set (5) of 9 spokers off of my S8. They do have curbage...
and road force balancing indicated that a couple are slightly bent. They were able to balance 'em out sufficiently that vibes were present only on the more recently paved roads. If you are interested drop me a PM.
