Sad A8 story to begin with (Fixed Pic)

Hey everyone, my name is Matt and I'm from Markham Ontario. I just bought my stock Ming Blue 1998 A8 on the 21st and I've been really excited to get in touch with my first Audi through these forums.
Unfortunately, on to the sad part. The DAY AFTER I bought the car, some woman ran through a red light at hit me in the drivers rear wheel doing about 100km/h (about 60MPH). Her little Toyota Matrix (piece of crap) managed to splinter my rear bumper and bend my rear axle, (no word from the shop yet on other damage). Her car was written off for sure. She hit me hard enough to spin the Audi around 2 or 3 times, resulting in it spinning through a number of construction cones and signs.
Anyways, I don't know if the car is totaled yet, my insurance policy is SO NEW that they couldn't even take my claim until this week. It's funny because I actually didn't receive my insurance pinks until today lol, and the car is already ruined.
Anyways, I've never owned a German car before, so I'm sure I'll have lots of questions for you all, either with this Audi, or my next one, because even if they write it off, two test drives were enough to convert me to an Audi A8 fan.
I'll post some after pictures when I get time, I'm still getting used to the idea that my new baby is gone. In the ER at 3AM, I kept asking my friend whether I was having a terrible dream, and if so, where was my damn car!

You can always buy one of Bruce's with ins. money. There's always a bright side.

Re: You can always buy one of Bruce's with ins. money
Haha, I'd love to, but I practically stole this one it was priced so low. It was previously owned by Chad Taylor of the band Live, and it was sold to the CEO of some company here in Canada, who gave it to his brother. I bought it from the brother who's a really nice guy, and he gave me a really good deal. He didn't even believe me when I called to tell him what happened lol.

Glad you are OK- a split second earlier and the hit would be in the driver's door........
Something we never want to contemplate. Like I said, I'm glad you're OK. The car can be replaced.

Re: If you can, upgrade to a 2000+
Yeah, I think I would because I really love the A8L, but the car just had the tranny completely rebuilt before I bought it so it's at least less of a worry for me. Plus the car has relatively low mileage for my local area, all the A8s for sale near me seem to have over 250,000KM (155,000miles) on them. Unless you guys live in Ontario or Quebec, the government doesn't control our insurance here, so they have the ability to jerk me around pretty well, which is what I'm afraid of. I don't want them to write it off and give me the lowest possible value for the car :S.
