Default Worn valve body.

Take your car to Chicago, to Tozo.

Default If that's the case ...

I could swear Paul swapped valve bodies 2 years ago without results .. I guess the replacement unit was a lemon ... ?

Default O.K. here's a contentious question to ask.

I actually live in Lansing, MI, not so far from Chicago - maybe 4 hours. If my transmission goes then which is preferable and why? 1) Take the car to Tozo or 2) purchase rebuilt unit from ZF? I hope that Tozo will understand my asking this question. He'll probably come out on top anyway.

Default I THINK......Tozo modifies his rebuilt valve bodies to account for the normal wear that

occurs in these transmissions. It is my belief that as the transmissions wear and tolerances open up, the TCU software gets to a point where it can't figure out how to control the transmission correctly and "Hunts" for the proper settings. Tozo modifies the valve body in such a way as to "help" the TCU maintain stable readings and performance in a worn transmission. Even in a rebuilt transmission I believe that that there are wear and tolerance issues that are still present. Tozo, correct me if I've misspoken.

Default Yes, you are correct.

The wear is more present in the TC circuit because of city driving (lock/regulate unlock). The shift circuits wear too, but not as much and they are still within the TCU's tolerance. The TC has only one clutch disc in it and there is no seal for the TCC. It is much more forgiving for the VB wear. The amount of wear that exist in the VB's TCC circuit would blow up a clutch pack in the tranny.
