I've given up on ever being able to use the MMI as a dialer, but if we knew the pin-outs for the phone cradle, surely we could reverse engineer an adaptor for any Motorola car phone that would at least allow speakerphone, mic. and charging of the phone while in the car ?

Skip the fancy stuff, let's just concentrate on the basics.
