Default Does anyone remember the post a year or so back about the guy

who had been away and came back to a noisy start up and was advised the engine was stuffed and the dealer would replace at $20,000.00.
The forum said "WHAT-get another opinion!"
He did and $50 fixed the dry lifters.
Well this post seems like that-may be the same limp diddle dealership

Default That's sounding like the transmission/TCU went into limp mode,

which it will do if very low on transmission fluid.

So it sounds like you may have indeed had a transmission fluid leak, versus a tailahaft seal/gear lube leak.

Or you had/have both!

Default It typically takes about 7L for a full transmission service, ie pulling the pan and replacing the

filter. A lot of fluid stays in the torque converter, so it may be 11L for a completely dry fill.

3L low is a *lot* of missing fluid, very low. If they fixed the leak, and filled 3Q worth of fluid, $300 probably isn't too bad, for a dealership.

It was 300.00 without fixing the seal...just the 3 q fluid and diagnosis of dood, you need a new tranny...

Default That's pretty absurd.

Fluid is expensive, but even a dealer should be embarassed to be charging, what, $28 a L? Didn't you say $85? And another $215 to pump it in?

I'd drop that dealer like a hot potato.
