Transmission Hunting....seems better....please somebody else try this
So I stopped my car the other day to try an "adaptation" of the throttle....
Turn car off, turn ignition back on, press the gas pedal all the way to the floor slowly over about 30 seconds, hold it at the floor for 5 and release it for another 30 seconds or so.....
Then try driving your car.
At first, it still hunted as I recall, but the next day it no longer hunts every 1 second when in 5th going 45 MPH under low throttle applications.
It still drops out of lockout on the highway, but doesn't "thump" the drive train nearly as hard.
Somebody else do this and report back and tell me if I'm crazy or not (in regard to the hunting...we already know I'm crazy).

Don't believe so
There is a procedure on ross-tech.com about doing this, but when I tried it before, we don't have the measuirng blocks or adaptation on a pre facelift car.....

Ok, lemme get this straight...
Turn the key to ignition, not start or running, then after its on press the pedal down slowly, hold it there, back off slowly, then turn car back off or start it right up? I'll try it over lunch!

Did it over lunch
and took a 20 mile trip. There was no noticable change in the hunting yet, but the transmission thump was gone and I tried at least a dozen times to get it to thump. Hope it stays that way.
Thanks Paul!!

I have posted before on this
This is what my mechanic told me to do to get rid of the hunting and Thump.
Turn the ignition but don't start the engine.
slowly depress the accel pedal to the floor.
Hold for approx 5sec and slowly release the pedal.
turn off the ignition.
Re-start and drive the way you want. This way the tranny learn mode will accept the way you drive and stay.

Just drove about 50 miles
I still get the dropout of the transmission on the highway, but the "thump" is almost gone....
...and on the side streets, I could drive 40MPH in 4th with no hunting and 45 in 5th with no hunting.
But it did take a day or two too learn that....we'll see if it sticks.
