Update on dealer-installed options
Talked to my dealer today about timing/availability of some options, here's what I heard:
1. Sat radio is ready to go, but both XM and Sirius are backordered. I'm going for XM once available
2. Dealer says he 'just found out' that you have to purchase the phone cradle separately if you get the V60. This is obviously not news to Potsie, but I do wonder how Dinan got one in his ill-fated car.
3. Cost is supposed to drop after inventory is depleted (my dealer is knocking $200 off the phone for new A8 customers on current inventory phones)
4. Floor mats and trunk liners should be ready soon. One customer had mud guards put on a silver A8 that was delivered a couple of weeks ago (Greenie, not sure how it got here from Chicago so quickly :-)), and the guards looked like s*@t, so they yanked them back off.
5. No info on Phatbox compatible with '04 A8 yet, but dealer says he has heard by end of year

What do you mean by "back-ordered"?
My dealers tell my that sat radio is not yet orderable. Is XM overloaded, so Audi can't get them, or is Audi overloaded? I'm waiting for XM before I order.

Re: What do you mean by "back-ordered"?
Not really sure, assume it means that whatever hardware is needed to activate either service in A8 cars is out of stock and not yet available. Dealer told me he got one of the last ones in stock and actually installed Sirius in a new A8 last week
