Default Usually you unclamp the clamps, replace and fill with coolant

You don't specify if it's a 32 or 40 valve motor. They are different hoses, but it's not hard, check out the procedure on audipages.com for the timing belt replacement.

Ok I have a 97 4.2 quatro. I will take a look at that thread. So when I unclamp the clamps then reinsert the new hose will I need to drain the system completely and then refill it or what is the correct procedure for that? Thanks

You will just need to drain it down to the level of the hose

Default Draining Fluid

Ok, sounds great, thanks so much. What is the easiest way to do this and how do you know when it is below the hose level?

Default Just research it on the timing belt change out procedure

If you don't know the answer to the question....I question you ability to do this procedure.

You must review the fill procedure and how to vent it also. It's all right there.

Ok great thanks. I do not appreciate your questioning of my intelligence. I'm not sure ability is judged by the knowledge of what you know how to do but rather the ability to gain knowledge in understanding, but thanks for your info.
