Default W12

has anyone much info or experience with the 12 cylinder a8 here? what are reliability ,maintenance costs like?, how about mods? gotta be some beautiful sounds could come out of those engines, and do they have an air suspension system?, we're talking d2 w12,euro models, but the us model must be similar, thanks in advance...there are some decent deals on these here in germany with low miles, only thing is they are usually black on black on black on...still beautiful, there are worse things, of course...

No personal experience as far as ownership goes, but you can expect the maintenance bills to be that much higher than the 4.2.

That would be my biggest deterrent in buying one. I already have a healthy appreciation for just how much this car costs to maintain. The last thing I would want is more repair bills.

The W12 models should all have the adaptive air suspension. (EDIT: D3 only, sorry )

Wait a sec, you're asking about D2 W12 models? I think you mean D3, no?

***EDIT***

I assumed he was asking about the D3, NOT the D2. Disregard my comment about the air suspension.

Default Engine maintenance costs are astronomical. Reliability = just like other D2's. Airsp.=no

En what do you mean with "Mods" ?
W12's are usually fully loaded anyway.

The sound is deep, dark and beautiful but very civilised. It's not an S model after all.

Air-suspension was introduced on the D3.

Default There were no D2 W12's imported into the US

I have never heard of a D2 from the factory with an air suspension system. If the W12 came with it....I'm not aware of it.

I've seen one in Italy before.....loved it! The bixenons are just too cool.

I would also consider a S8.

i'm saying mods as far as little stuff, like custom exhaust to bring that sound to life, maybe a window tint,if i get this w12 i'm seeing here in germany, it has recaros, they just need to be amaretto or burgundy even...black on black is too much black, and i'm not painting it..., then if i find the car sits too high, too much wheel gap, well then, it'll have to be lowered, and a nice set of hre's should let the brembo brakes show a bit more, if they're not there,(the brembo's, or porsche or...?), then they'll have to be one of the 'little' mods, stuff like that

do you mean stuff like tie rods, tb/water pump service, oil change, parts in general? took care of my a6 for 4 years with that stuff and found it to be not out of line,
