Warming up?
I don't have the luxury of leaving the my '97 A8Q in a heated garage this winter. So, when starting it up first thing in the morning how long should I let it warm up for?

brun, depending on the outside temps, I let the car idle for about 1 minute.
IMHO, any longer is a waste of gas plus the car will warm up more quickly once moving. Also, I will shift a few times back and forth between reverse and drive if it is especially cold. This will get fluids moving in the tranny itself. FWIW!

Every year about this time we discuss this. Unless it's really cold outside, I think it's best to start the car, wipe the windows, and go. If it's really, really cold out (like 10 F or less), then let it idle for at least 2-3 minutes before going....
I also park outside all year, last year I changed to Mobil 1 0W30, the stuff really flows at low temps. But think about all that ATF fluid that has to warm up!
I'm not a big fan of idling the car until it warms up, it runs too rich for too long.
