No TPMS sensors by the way--commonly removed by most sellers as they swap over

Default thanks. I think I just found my color. is that available from 2004-2006? is there FAQs?

I'm probably about 9-12 months out from purchase, but I want to start getting a good idea of what I want/can get.

seems as if the big issue is MMI with the early '04s. other than that, just get one that is CPO

Default And surprise, surprise...

All of a sudden today it went from like $1200 and a dozen bids to miraculously $500 and no bids and auction stopped because "The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the minimum bid or reserve amount." Then, lo and behold it was closed in a relisting with a buy it now at $2800+ within the hour. Gee, isn't that convenient? I'm in favor of free markets and entrepreneurism, but these kind of auctions where rules spontaneously change mid-stream, real bidders just get blown away with a fiction created that pretends there were no bids, and you can hear the money changing hands just reinforce e bay is not a very high class operation on these higher priced items. Wild West prevails.

FWIW, at this price it's fine but not truly compelling as a buyer who can be opportunistic. Yeah Audi wheels go through various fads and hot streaks when they first come out, and bigger diameter A8 wheels have the interesting trade up phenomenon from all the other models for folks who want the biggest possible wheels on A4's and A6's. But as a buyer, on average I think of as a really good buy being one where the total price isn't higher than the tires alone at regular retail, or at most tires $$ plus install cost and a bit more for vitually new stuff. Give it long enough, and with private sellers I can typically find those deals made willingly. I would say right now there aren't that many good A8 (S8) wheels being sold (likely reflecting poor new A8 sales that you can see in Audi USA's stats easily), so it is closer to a seller's market with limited supply. This kind of price means it's likely an A8 buyer who specifically wants and can use the tires and puts full values on both tires and wheels. Good for him/her.

Anybody care to fess up? Per my other post, hold on to your TPMS sensors from this auction (I asked). Those are $400 a set even discounted at achtuning, and tire rack says they only sell them with wheel sets.

Default Good for you...an honest and top notch seller.

I'm finding you really have to ask. If it is a pro seller, almost assume they were stripped off, either by the owner to use on the new wheels (which is understandable) or by the selling business to use or sell elsewhere. Some ads are very cagey too where only if you notice they talk about new $20 valve stems and that what they describe is what you get, do you piece together they stripped off the TPMS, even though they are otherwise describing them as top quality A8 stuff and avoid any mention there is no TPMS. At least 2 e bay listings gathering dust fit there currently. Of the last five or six times I asked (including these and some Bentley wheels), each seller who responded said they were not included even when it looks like they may be in the picture--that unusual flat silver Beru TPMS valve stem.

Default have a feeling seller have no idea tpms is standard on A8 and S8

It's pretty rare to see S8 owners replacing the oem wheels, I for one will not if I owned an S8...not sure where they got this one..hmmm
