Default 2004 A8L Exhaust blow out

I have the A8 at our work site so one of the engineers was driving it, most likely punching it pretty hard.
I get in and the exhaust has a leak somewhere right near the line of the front door hinges. Have not had a chance to jack and inspect.

Sounds rad from inside...could this be the flex joints?

I would not be surprised if it is something like a flex joint or a gasket that has worn out. Get underneath and figure it out. Should be easy to troubleshoot.

The flex joints on these are steel and prone to rusting out, it's a common enough failure, especially with northern cars!

Flex joints. Both of mine rusted out. Any exhaust guy can cut the old ones out and weld in new for a couple hundred.

Hi -Im hoping to find an exhaust shop tomorrow.
I got my VW buggy in for a glass claim today , but that went sideways due to a technicality (2 year limitation from time of initial rock chip - idiots sheesh).
The Rangie is going back to same glass shop because the non-OEM windshield doesn't work with the rain sensor (what a waste too, heated screen that is perfect otherwise, thats bonkers)

But on the +VE side I did the same drill pilot hole and lube injection method to my RR differential electric motor, which was throwing a "jammed" code. Operates smooth as silk now.

Got it on a hoist today. The Guy wanted $600 CAD ($400USD) to weld in the new pipes. I would say it's a good morning's job so can't say that is too far out of line. 4 cuts plus 4 x welds plus have to drop the pipe to get at the top and do it properly.

I did this @ lunch, shop was kinda dead. I just dont have the time to shop around everything closes too early!!

Funny story about the flex pipes. Mine were blown out and looked shredded last spring. I was at the dealership for something else and asked them how much it would cost for them to replace the flex pipes. They came back with a $7500 estimate because apparently, their service manuals tell them the engine needs to be removed for replacement.

That's an absolute joke. Take it to a muffler shop, $80-$110 later you'll have a new one welded in and working just like new. I've replaced both of mine in the 200k of driving and now one more has to be replaced.
