I have a 2007 Audi A8L with rearview camera not working. Scanned with VCDS and no errors with the rearview camera module, camera, nothing. However, I can place a finger over the camera lens and I can see the MMI screen lighting up without images and then dim. Replaced with another camera and still does the same thing? All the parking sensors work and when switched to "Graphics" on the MMI options, nothing works whether you push the "P" button near the steering column or putting it in reverse and then the "Graphics" button on the MMI.

Could the rearview camera module be bad and not throw a VCDS error code? I checked the camera's voltage and it's ~6.5V which I believe it's normal. I checked all the wires and the only thing to check in connect the camera to an external monitor to see if it shows an image, right? Just need a female fakra connector to a RCA plug.

Just to update my situation with the backup camera. As I have been struggling with the passenger headlight(well, front right fog light, turning LED marker, and also just noticed footwell light under the glove box) I took apart the glove box to check wiring or water from AC drain or roof drain...bone dry! However, I still had the leveling sensor(G76) error on driver rear. I unplugged the air suspension module(two sets or plugs similar to the ECU under the hood, pull out to remove release the plug) and also the green fakra connector coming from the camera control module in the trunk to the MMI control module. Put everything back and then the backup camera magically worked on the MMI now. After checking broken wires near the driver rear brake light, along with getting another camera, opening up the backup camera module, still waiting for a fakra-to-RCA cable to check whether the camera actually works, the back-up camera works now.

Was it just a slightly loose green fakra connector to the MMI control module behind the glove box? I guess so as I was getting 6.5V to the camera and the VCDS showed no errors with the backup camera or backup camera control module. I hope this helps out with anyone with a non-working backup camera issues.
