2008 A8 Delivery Update...Week of Oct 15
My dealer put in my order for a 2008 A8 on July 2. He just told me yesterday thay they have received notice that my car will be arriving during the week of Oct 15. Hope this helps for anyone who has ordered, or is considering ordering 2008's.

That's what I did. Once the MSRP and options were announced by...
Audi June 22 or so for 2008 A8's, I backed out % mark-up per Edmunds for 2007 model options assuming it might be the same for 2008 to get an assumed Dealer Invoice price per car and option, and negotiated up from assumed Invoice. If Invoice is less, they made some money, if more, I saved more. Sale is not complete. You give a deposit of $1000 and pay when the car arrives if you take it. If not, you can probably get out of the deposit as long as you didn't order something bizarre or unsaleable.

Follow tcr20's below methodology is what I do, except I don't have to put down a deposit as long as
...what we order isn't out of line with what the dealer would have ordered for his own in-stock inventory. I usually come in at the mid-point between the difference between Edmunds' listed "invoice" and the MSRP numbers---that generally works out to be fair for both parties, IMO.

Re: 2008 A8 Delivery Update...Week of Oct 15
TCR, You remember that I ordered mine on the 22nd of June. The dealer is still holding on a delivery date of late August to Mid September. It might hold up since it was the second order in the queue for North America.
Now for pricing....I put 4k on my order since the options took it beyond what the dealer would normally order on an lot A8L. I found my best deal through my credit union. They have purchase agreements with all auto brands, but not each dealership. I found it was significantly better than any deal I could get anywhere else.
Lastly....I am heading to Germany tomorrow....I might get a chance to stop in Neckarslum and watch it roll off the line... :-)

Not likely, since U.S. production isn't supposed to start until week#36...
...that's the beginning of September. Figure another 30 to 45 days for shipment to U.S.
I'd ask your dealer to check your order in "Access Audi" to really see what's what. If he can tell you the scheduled/confirmed production week, you'd have a clearer indication. I'd be surprised if your car's commission number comes up with a scheduled production week earlier than September 3rd.

I suppose so is his dealer. But the time parameter he was given isn't even close, so he...
...should ask to see a copy of the commission order which should also show the production week information. But, yeah, your reply was kinder and gentler ;^)
