i am hoping the control module will just read that the switch is there and feed power to the wheel to heat it, once VAGCOM is coded.
hey jaygo, i tried looking for that switch but cant seem to find anything on the back of the steering wheel.. i can only see paddles, and the **** to move steering wheel up and down hoever, next to that **** there is a push button but i dont know what thats for tbh lol

The heated wheel comes on with the driver's heated seat.

cant speak for anyone else here, but my heated wheel
has a button on the back of the lower left spoke.
it toggles the heat on and off, and i think it defaults
to off when ambient temp is at certain level.
this was also the case on my previous 2006 A8.
perhaps this is a change post facelift for 06 on?

My 05 has no switch but comes on with the heated seats. My 07 has the button on the wheel. Pretty positive it stays on until you turn it off.

This is why this is such a great forum. My '04 heated wheel came on when the heated seats were invoked, great stuff yes. When I bought my '06, I had figured the same was true and my heated wheel was simply not working. I read this string today at work, went down to the parking lot to check and low and behold there is indeed a switch on the wheel that I never noticed. It has been single digits, and negative double digits here for the last week. On my ride home tonight .... heated steering wheel.

Again thanks to all of the great members of this forum, made my day today :-)

My '08 has the button on the spoke. My '04 with cold weather package came on with the seats. It seems like US MY04-05 is automatic and MY06-10 has the button.

I, too, will want to do this to an 07 a8L. What was the cost for the parts if you don't mind? I'm also on LI.
Thx

hi scott,
you will need ecn module(p/n must end in 'b'), clockspring( p/n also must end in 'b') see 8 and 9 in the link..

http://www.audiwholesaleparts.com/pa...agramCallOut=9

your cost will likely range from 1000-1500 depending on sources.

i got my wheel off ebay out of europe and the module also. the clockspring and airbag (which must be the matching shape for wheel) i had to go for new parts.

good luck!

john
