Lowering was done with the lowering links...they're very easy to install.By shortening the links the car drops rapidly..
I guess you could even use the original links that are on the A8 and shorten these in some way and your car will drop.Be carefull because a 1/2 inch shortening of the links will create a double lowering number(1/2 inch shorter is a 1 inch drop aprox..)

Default Holy crap! Nice job dude!

I just bought the lowering links (not installed yet). I bought these from Ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/150702504643...84.m1439.l2649

I like the look of your car. '05 with a big grille? Is that standard? Looks nice. My '05 has twin grilles at the front, I guess it was a mid year change or something... Can you tell me what tyre size you have please? I'm looking at either 20" S8 rims of even 20" R8 replicas. Any help appreciated....

Since the ride height can be adjusted by a VAG tool like Ross-Tech's $350 VCDS, is it a matter of cost that one would instead use the $160 adjustable links, or is there a functional reason one is better than the other?

The VCDS or similar needs to be used to replace the rear pads.

As I can remember maximum is 25mm. I prefer it leveled. Nose down associates me with old broken springs and heavy engine.

Technically, you are correct. But for me adaptation would not take at 25mm no matter how many times I tried.

Also, the reason I have it 20mm front / 10mm rear is this is the level where the wheels look the same level in the wheelwells. When I went 20mm rear it looked like the rear was sitting lower.

I believe more gap in the front is by design and the front wheelwells are usually given more clearance since the wheels must be able to handle bumps while turning. I just don't like the way it looks. Reminds me of the crappy GM luxury sedans that always sag in the rear due to old springs.
