ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Rear Right (G44)
Hello all!,
I've been battling a wheel speed sensor issue and I'm hoping for some insight.
00287 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Rear Right (G44)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit
Does anyone know if there are any wiring connectors between the right rear and the ABS Module?
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for ABS for these cars?
I have replaced the sensor at the wheel with no luck. I also checked the loom at the ABS Module, but i didn't find any obvious wire issues.
The sensor wires look to be brown and black, but when I look at the ABS Module there are 4 sets of brown/black wires going in, seems odd that Audi wouldn't have specific colors for each wheel.

Ok, I did a continuity test between the ABS Module and the sensor connector and unfortunately the connection was good on both wires. FYI they routed to PINs 31 (brown) and 12 (black).
So now I'm a bit stumped, if its not the wiring, not the sensor, what could possibly be failing? Somehow the module itself?

Well, after reading a few more threads i decided to dig deeper into the wiring harness. Unfortunately my harness seems fine all the way back about 2 fee from the connector, should I keep going?

I don't think the tone ring or ABS sensor are the problem, I replace the sensor and regardless of whether it's connected or not I still get the same error. At this point I'm betting it's something inside the ABS module

If you had an open sensor, upon replacement, the system needs to see a 4 MPH speed signal to clear the fault code. This ensures the sensor is gapped properly and the teeth on the tone ring are are all there and none are missing or "mushroomed".

Ok, but doesn't the error 012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit indicate that the sensor is completely disconnected/not detected by the unit?

Same boat here. I found broken wire at the abs module today but it wasnt the only problem apparently. Continuity check tomorrow. Do you have entire pinout of the abs module connector?
Deducted the pinout and fixed it, my problem was the harness

Tone ring
Can someone please share a picture of the tone ring on a d3 a8 rear axle? I changed out a wheel bearing right rear and I did not see any tone ring. As soon as I reassembled the lot with the new bearing I got 00287 implausible signal. Assuming it is gone from mine, can a replacement tone ring be purchased?
thank you.
thank you.
