AC problem
There is some cooling but far from enough and it has to work on full fan all the time but still won't get to the set temp now that we have some 25-30C outside. Even when I set it to LO. Same for the rear unit.
I was thinking if some flap or whatever might have stuck during the 5w I didn't use the car but I'm not sure where to start looking. I VAG-COMed it but no error code.
I guess I could have the system checked but I'd rather not start with throwing money on that if someone who had a similar problem could chime in with ideas first.
The system will be filled with R-135a - or Triflouroethane - this will usually be drained off, then replaced with the same compound but containing a trace dye which contains a dye which shows under ultra-violet light as an aid to discovering leaks.
I would advise that a new drying canister is fitted - this is a can containing sylica gel crystals which absorb moisture form the gas to reduce the risk of corrosion and improve the efficiency of the liquid to gas ~ gas to liquid heat transfer process.
It may be that there is a leak but the tracer dye will aid finding the problem.
It does not sound like any other problem and I believe that if there was no pressure left in the system then the compressor will not cut in at all so it sounds like a slow leak which means you may not need to do anything to fix it until it starts to loose efficiency again.
