In my defense, I first took it to where I bought the tires, an independent tire dealer who was an authorized Michelin dealer. Then I took it to the dealer, who sent me to their body shop (the rinky-dink MB dealer in Nashville did not have a body/ frame shop until 2009 or so - in fact they still don't do body work but they do do alignments). The little MB-sanctioned body shop did in fact put weights in the back and trunk and checked the entire frame's alignment. It was strange how it ate through the inner edges of the tires. It was a W210 (1996) - looked like this:
