Put the vehicle in Lift Mode and see if you can crawl underneath. Right front is where the oil filter is (below the air filter). Did you recently have the oil changed?

I don't think the guy is lying, it's just hard to know where the leak comes from - My car 06 A8L 75k miles - totally dry under the engine, but the x-owner just got the valve cover gaskets replaced because he smelled the oil burning while driving.

So check the valve cover gaskets to see if any evidence of oil leaks.
Now, oil leaks are not regular maintenance.

Cheers,

Louis

Welcome!

If it is just a few drops you won't loose anything for a long time. Go to a different mechanic and ask him to show you where the leak is. He has to put it on a lift and take the belly cover of in order to check it.

If you can crawl underneath A8 in the lift mode you have to work on your diet.

Haha ok bad choice of words. I meant stick-your-head-underneath.

I keep forgetting there is a belly cover (mine was missing when I bought the car and never bothered replacing it)

You should replace it. It will reduce engine noise and improve aerodynamics.

any other modes working? if not, maybe the previous mechanic left it in jack mode.

Did you have the motor oil changed recently? reason I ask is if it's leaking at the front-right it might be just a loose oil filter housing. That's the cheapest solution....

Jack mode goes out by itself at 8 km/h (5 mph).
