Default BFM Hydraulic Adjusters

Hello everyone, just wondering if and what the consensus is on the original manufacturer of the the hydraulic adjusters part number: 077109087P. I am looking to replace mine due to a long trip I may be taking this winter. I have been involved in many discussions and thread about the issues of these adjusters, however there is no consensus on who the original manufacturer is. I have found several sources that suggest they are Chinese made, however some members disagree. Is there any valid proof that they are made by VW/Audi or a supplier to Audi? Sorry to beat a dead horse, but since this is a common issue on most, if not all, BFM engines I feel like members should know a reliable alternative to paying $760 for just one adjuster unit. I have seen a few parts websites that state they have the OE supplier and will give a few a call tomorrow to gather more information. Finally all knowledge about this would be helpful, since I have never had such an issue finding information about a valid OE supplier for a part before.

Why would you replace them? They are not a common failure item. I could see replacing the wear pads as preventative maintenance but why replace the entire assembly if you don't have issues?

Yeah I see no reason to replace it if there is no chain rattle noise or timing codes. But at 179,000 miles, my passenger side hydraulic cam chain adjuster started to make a horrible noise at hot idle. So I went ahead and purchased one from ECSTuning.com for around $300 and all has been good for the past year and a half (17,000 miles)

The ratting upon start up is my main concern, that if it were to fail on a long trip I wouldn't know what to do.

They usually don't fail immediately, usually it takes time to do so. But I haven't heard many BFM hydraulic tensioner failure on these cars. It's not common whatsoever. I feel as if I were one of very very few people to experience this issue. But previous owner drove the vehicle with this issue for several months before I repaired it.
