Default Bluetooth drops after a minute or two of each call

I have had my 2005 A8L for four years now and my iphone 4 for at least a year. They have always played nice, until recently. The only change that has happened recently is my phone software update which happens regularly and automatically, I believe. Ios 5.0.1

For the past couple of weeks, my phone connects and works fine with my car, but when I make or accept a call, about a minute or two into the call, the bluetooth connection between the car and the phone drops and then about 10 seconds later, they reconnect. I tried completely resetting the bluetooth in the car in the MMI and re-pairing and it still does it.

Has anyone had this same problem?

Is there a more complete method to reset the bluetooth system further? I'd like to avoid taking the car to the shop and there is no way I can leave my phone with my dealer.

I appreciate any help,

thanks,

someguy

It's iOS and I've had the problem.

The problem started at v5.0.
Second call in the car is usually OK - same happens with other brands.

5.1 will be out soon but no promises.
Suggest filing a bug report with Apple online.

"other brands"? Do you mean that my phone will do this with other cars?

thanks for the help.

edit: also: how do you file a bug report, I tried to figure it out and couldn't.

thanks,

Default I've had it too and view it as Apple's not ready for primetime release...

Same experience you have. Bluetooth reliabilty went down in factory Mini system too, and aftermarket Fujitsu unit in Smart car from 2004+ timeframe. Problems across several phones. Thr constants are iPhone 4's and IOS5, and that it did't happen pre-IOS5.

Does get better on second call, but it's flaky. Not good for Apple S/W QC.

Yes, I have heard that all brands of vehicles have the issue with iPhone.

Am having difficulty finding a non-Developer reporting tool so suggest using:

http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/contact/

The more it gets reported, the more likely it is to be fixed.

It has been incredibly frustrating for me because my mobile phone is my primary business contact point...

Default iOS 5.0.1

I've had similar complaints about this with the iPhone4 and our 2006 car. The BT connection would drop and call would be lost after 30 seconds or so.

Update: problems continue I just learned. I'm wondering if it is possible to restore iPhone 4 to an earlier iOS ??

Most interesting.

Wonder if the newer version has an update software or chip that makes the difference....

I had a similar issue with my blackberry this fall on my 2007 A8L. I had MMI upgraded and have not had any issues since. Although in my case the call might last 5 to 10 minutes and then drop.

I have since upgraded to the iPhone 4s and have not experienced any problems so far with the iPhone. I am running v5.0.1 on the iphone.

Good luck.

Do you guys know how much the dealer might charge to update the MMI on an '06 car?

Has anyone switched their iPhone back to an earlier version of the iOS? Is it possible?

Thx.
