Bluetooth Streaming in a 2007 S8?
I have a 2007 A8 that I had to buy a Audi Music Interface (AMI) in order to stream music. This car has a CD/AUX button on the center console. I'm about to buy a 2007 S8 that I'd like to set up the same way. The button on the center console of the S8 only says CD, not CD/AUX like the A8. Is this an indication that AMI will not work in the S8? Both are Bang & Olufsen equipped.

I thought some of the 2007's might not have the music interface. If there is a connector in the glove box that will plug into your iPod I am pretty sure it would work. When you say the AMI are you talking about the connection that let's you plug your iPod I to the glove box or the Bluetooth receiver that plugs into the AMI connector in the glove box.
I am sure someone here will chime in as to whether all 2007's came standard with the AMI.

AMI availability in 2007
AMI became available as an option during the mid-model-year refresh in 2007. If the vehicle in question was produced early in the 2007 MY (e.g. 2006 build date) then it won't have an AMI unless added by the owner after the initial delivery. AMI became standard in 2008 MY vehicles and onward.

Bluetooth streaming and AMI are different.
AMI is a precondition for bluetooth streaming using Audi OE solutions, but not sufficient. You then need the add on module for bluetooth that plugs into the AMI module. It was discontinued last year, though as of several weeks ago, I still found a handful around at one dealer.
From having used it both ways (cable and via bluetooth), the sound quality is reasonable via bluetooth, but the info and control you get with a dedicated player coming through the MMI screen is light years beyond what comes over bluetooth. Thus, if this is the one phone device fits all idea, like with toaster ovens I'm a believer that dedicated devices are better. The world is awash in old iPhones and iPods and such, so I just use those. Plus, AMI in the Apple world anyway is still the old analog 30 pin connector, so another reason my ancient 32G iPod Touch just soldiers on in the glove box. The wife's Q5 just got an old iPhone 4 with a somewhat broken screen that plays just fine.

The one upside with the Bluetooth module is using voice commands for music on the iPhone. It is so much easier than the MMI interface especially when I want to select a specific artist that does not start with the letter "A". You lose track info but the voice commands are more than worth it for me.

Bluetooth dongle
I've always wondered if a generic Bluetooth dongle that supports A2DP would work in place of the official Audi Bluetooth dongle. That might be a cheaper and more available option.
