Default Buying a8 w/123,000 miles

Hey everyone, I'm new here and are wondering if anyone can help me. I'm wondering if it is a good idea to purchase a 2007 a8l with 123,000 miles on it. Everything seems to be functioning correctly. Drives smooth no over heating. Shifts well . Just never owned an audi and want to know if I'm getting myself a headache. 2 owners but can't get service records.

Pete, welcome aboard! Do you have financial reserves set aside to do repairs when needed? Would you want to start investing heavily into this car should it be required?

There's nothing more expensive than a cheap German car.

With no vehicle history, have $$ put aside for the invariable repairs on a decade old car.

Pete, I always worry about the front suspension on these cars unless you can document that the re-build work has been completed. The suspension is complex and $$$$ when it needs to be re-done. Could be myriad other concerns...who knows without any documentation unless you can track down someone competent that could perform a proper pre-purchase inspection for you.

You don't want to throw good money after bad As Raj states, don't believe that the car is "cheap" unless you can confirm it is in good shape.

Without knowing more about the car, you don't know where it's going to land. Could be great, could be a financial disaster. I think you've got to go into being skeptical, not vice versa.

I don't know what country you are writing from, but maybe somebody here could recommend a local shop that's qualified to help you out. Also, there's some minimal value to CARFAX and the info provided. You'd at least be able to see if the car has had a service bay dedicated to it somewhere...

Like everyone said, The higher the mileage, the more likely hood you will start doing more repairs. If you are a DYIer, then it might be ok. If you have to pay someone else to do it, these complex cars are just plain expensive to fix.

I bought my first D3 W12 and it had 48K on the clock. I owned it for three years and all I did was maintenance on her. My 05 got totaled out and I bought a 09 W12 with 97K on the clock. I have had my 09 for almost 3 years and I have done a bunch of work oh her. Seems like i'm doing something every few months. Some were bigger work like front struts and inner control arm bushings to small work like trunk struts. My 05 was such a great car but I just think it was just low miles that made the difference.

I am a do-it-yourselfer engine is an engine just different tools when it comes to these German vehicles. This is just would have been my daily driver and I was considering just financing it instead of just paying all cash in front but everything you guys are telling mewere my sentiments exactly. I was just reading some of the other threads and it and they made it seem like these cars would go for 250 300 thousand miles. But I thank you all for your input I appreciate it
