does heated steering wheel adjust to temp?
as noted in a few other threads i installed
a 4 spoke, mfsw, heated wheel with paddles.
i changed wheel, airbag, and j527 steering module.
after some tool hunting, parts misadventures and coding,
i managed to clear any codes and the car 'sees' the
wheel and all functions.
i have NOT however gotten any real heat out of this thing
even though dash will say 'on' or 'off' when i push button.
the question is..does the wheel heater act in accordance
with ambient temps?
the vag says it is at 28C and reads 'OFF' in the
advanced meausring blocks.
it has not been cold at all lately here.
thanks john.
Mine comes on only if it's below a certain temp [which I can't remember but is in the book] and if my heated seats are on.
28C seems pretty high for it being "off"
now..i am not sure if the readout i saw in vag was the
current temp of the wheel or a statement of where the wheel temp is set to go when on.
i will just leave the car out tonite and see what the wheel does when car is colder.
thanks.

28 is WAY too hot an ambient temp to need a heated wheel.
28C is ~82F. Dunno about you but I sure as hell don't want sweaty palms in 80F+ degree weather.
I recently had mine looked at while getting a service done. I reported that the top and bottom of the steering wheel did not get warm, but the sides (near the posts) worked OK. Apparently the heat is an all-or-nothing proposition. It either works, or it doesn't, so there can't be "dead spots." I'm not sure what to say about that. I know for a fact that the top used to get toasty.

my heated seats were on but i will try to maybe
increase or turn on/off the seats to trigger it.
damn i might have to take this thing off yet again
and see why no results. codes looked ok as of yesterday.
and there doesnt appear to be a dedicated fuse to this
function, as it is part of steering wheel module.
