Default Door trim foam

Hi
Has anyone redone the foam behind the Suede leather part in the door trims ? ( interior door handle part)
All the foam is rotted to nothing.
Had a look at a spare door trim and the section is all plastic welded in.
Don't know whether to attempt it or live with it.

There are several brands of 2 part epoxy 'plastic weld' product that will work on ABS plastic.....but you must get one that specifies that it is for (among other types) ABS. So, you could Dremmel those heat welds off the back side of the Alcantara insert and then attach the replacement with the epoxy. I have never done that on a D3, but I used to switch-out the leather door inserts in the old 200 model Audis.

I saw a utube video of a similar trim on a vw but the audi as you point out has a lot of heat welds.
I have spare door trims after leather trim upgrade so I might experiment one one of those.
Have already done the roof lining because that damn foam rotted also.
