Is this the end?
Our lovely 2006 with 207k miles just got a transmission service done at a local shop and I used a filter from FCP and I crossed referenced it with Audi. The transmission fluid was last changed around 110k.. This shop used Audi fluid (supposedly, I never saw it personally) this time.
It is now slipping. Mostly second gear when it is cold but, others are effected as well. After 10 mins of driving or so there is no slipping at all. My first thought was that it is that it is not topped off hence the second visit to double check that it was. Is it worth going to another shop and getting the service done again? Is it time to try an additive? Of course we love the car but I am not sure it is worth going down the transmission replacement road.
Would love some thoughts. We have had the car for 14 years and have loved it dearly. Hope its not the end.
Thank you
Otherwise it’s a simple case of them breaking the trans because they put the wrong fluid in. After all that’s the only thing that’s different.
I do have a question. Is this acceptable fluid?
Thank you again.

As for your fluid, it should be close enough to work fine, if not the same. at most it may feel different, but not cause it to slip out of gear. People have used a variety of aftermarket fluid here.
In any case, unless you had a poor interaction with them, I don't see why the original shop would not be willing to take the time to at least check levels again and if they mounted the filter properly.

Bringing Audi to Life for Audi Fans
As you mention the problem goes away after it’s warmed up, as others have pointed out, suggests that it might not have been filled properly. The ATF needs to be specifically topped off to the point of overflow when the trans is at 40degC. Doing it at other temps will result in an incorrect fill level.
An additive I would strongly discourage as there’s no telling what it will do/ruin.
Next step is for the shop that did it to drop the pan, make sure the filter is correctly seated, and then fill it back up using the correct procedure, AND fresh ATF. I’d suggest an alternative to the Pentosin AFT6. As whilst it “says” it’s compatible, I don’t see the baseline spec mentioned which is Shell M-1375.4
Go with an ATF that specifically mentions “Shell M-1375.4” as a spec, of which there are plenty, or go with the OEM ATF “ZF Lifeguard 6” to avoid any doubt.
