Error code 01487 Air suspension.

Error code 01487 Air suspension.
Just had this error code coming up in the airsuspension on my 2005 4.2 A8.
Yellow light is on.
The only thing i can find on Ross tech is to swap the control module j 197.
Is this really the only possible faillure or can there be more to trigger this fault code?
and if i get another module ,can i take one with a later software version?
ps: i did the clearing of the code on the 2 ways explaind on Ross-Tech website.
Fault comes back.

An error code number alone is tough to diagnose anything from.
What’s the text description from vcds associated with the error code? What does it say is wrong? Are there any other fault codes, even from seemingly unrelated systems, as that can provide other diagnostic clues.
Also any other symptoms? What functions of the suspension do and don’t work? Is the car sitting level, can you select different suspension modes, does it change height, does the compressor run, does it audibly release air and self level when you lock it, can you select jack mode, etc.

Just managed to clear the code ,system is operating normaly.
when the code is there lift and dynamic mode are grayed out and compressor wil not turn on at 40 km/hour. (Sorry i am in Europe).
text disciption vcds is to clear the code ,there ar two ways to do it .
if you can clear the code you are fine ,if not change J197.

my advise: switch out the 40amp relay in the dash with a silver prong new 40a relay AFTER you remove and completely rebuild your air pump -- eBay sells rebuild kits with new dryer beads. you can do both of those for less than $100USD. If it turns out you have a leak (car is leaning in the morning or after a few days its really low - source new struts up from from the Turkey aftermarket builders for the OEM replacement at a fraction. there are others rebuilt air strut/shocks as well, but will not have as good of a shock inside. might end up replacing the upper arms when you have it apart. $1000 for the second phase of the struts - or less. good luck.
