I just had both sides replaced also, muffler shop miss quoted me and didnt say anything till i overheard them talking about it after the job was done. i got out the door for $160 to do both sides, i offered to pat the correct price, but they wanted to stick to the quote

I sure hope they put good, rust-resistant flex pipes in for you. I had both replaced and they rusted out in less than a year. The originals were replaced after ten years. The shop offers a "taillights warranty" only. That is the normal rule for stuff like this. One of the few jobs that's not for me as I don't like using a cutting torch.

I just had this done. Exact same symptoms as the OP. My drivers side one had rusted out and was starting to blow. Passenger side still ok. Local muffler shop too care of it.
